We asked Seriously Home founder Johanna White about building a platform for homeowners, home pros, and neighbors to collaborate and work more efficiently. Johanna has a background in enterprise tech marketing with Microsoft and has done Java development for finance industry IT systems. Johanna chose Bubble because the no-code platform makes it possible to not only prototype but launch a scalable production consumer SaaS platform.
Tell us about your app and what it does.
Seriously Home is a collaboration platform for homeowners, home pros, and neighbors to get more done. We help you connect and collaborate with your team of home pros, exchange relevant pro referrals with neighbors, and get great deals straight from pros customized for your neighborhood.
How does your app work?
Seriously Home makes it easy to manage and track all the work that home pros do in your home. It provides collaboration tools to schedule, chat, and share files/images with your pros. Users can even pay on the platform. It also enables you to invite your neighbors to virtual neighborhoods to exchange referrals for pros serving your neighborhood. For home pros, Seriously Home is a simple way to manage your existing customer base and grow your business through neighborhood referrals.
Tell us a little about your background and how you discovered no-code tools like Bubble.
My background is in enterprise tech marketing with Microsoft and Java development for finance industry IT systems with CGI-AMS. My cofounder also has a background in cloud strategy and business models with Microsoft. We had an idea for an app but didn't want to hire a large dev team to prototype it. We discovered Bubble with its library of plugins that make it easy to connect to the biggest consumer tech services out there while providing a comprehensive workflow engine that allowed me to construct a unique customer experience.
Why did you build your app on Bubble?
After getting my project started on Bubble, I became active in the forums and saw for myself how real startups built on Bubble were scaling their businesses, drawing in venture capital, and connecting to an ever-expanding ecosystem of services. I saw the potential to not just prototype but also launch a scalable production consumer SaaS platform with a truly lean team of two!
What have been your milestones or successes so far?
We have had a production service processing payments to home pros for eight months, and we are available in three neighborhoods at the moment. It's been an interesting journey during the pandemic. We started our project in December 2019, just a couple of months before Covid-19 lockdowns, remote work, and remote schooling for our children turned our lives upside down. But Bubble's model made it easy for us to keep making progress whenever we had time between work and kids. I honestly believe it would not have been possible to launch this business without Bubble!
What are your next steps or future plans for your app?
With Bubble, we've been able to create a full-featured V1 product, and we're ready for homeowners, neighbors, and pros anywhere to start using the service and expanding organically. We've designed the service to give homeowners and pros a great deal of customizability in their experience to fine-tune how the app interacts with them. We think these features will make organic growth a natural outcome of the productivity experience.
