We asked The Good Workshop (TGW) founder, Fayssal Loussaief, about building an innovation management and sustainability platform. TGW's mission is to help innovate for a circular economy. Fayssal has worked for Saatchi & Saatchi, Publicis Sapient, and Infosys; he transitioned from design to product management over the past seven years. He chose Bubble because the no-code platform stuck with him immediately and allowed him to build a fully functional app within three months.

Tell us about your app and what it does.

The Good Workshop is a B2B SaaS platform for innovation management and sustainability. Our mission is to help innovate for a circular economy by using our curated design thinking guides, innovation stack suggestions, and real-time participant feedback features. We offer a free-forever plan, ideal for smaller boutique-agencies, in-house incubators or startups. Large corporations can benefit from unlimited workshops and insights from our enterprise or premium plans.

How does your app work?

Imagine a large company CEO who wants to test a circular economy innovation, for example, but doesn't know where to start. She asks her innovation department to set up a workshop; however, the innovation team is still far from being experts in the subject. And now, imagine a very passionate designer about the circular economy and the perfect candidate for the job, but a stranger from the CEO's perspective. The Good Workshop is an app that makes it easy for both parties to collaborate, brings specialists and stakeholders together, and automatically creates a workshop based on their needs.

Professionals can then facilitate the many experts, stakeholders and other relevant roles, and focus on extracting insights and knowledge in a standardised fashion. At the end of the workshop, stakeholders understand the implementation costs and timeline, helping them make more informed decisions, aligned with the many insights gathered.

Tell us a little about your background and how you discovered no-code tools like Bubble.

Since 2007, I have been in digital (Saatchi & Saatchi, Publicis Sapient, Infosys) and transitioned from design to product management over the past seven years. Understanding what makes a product or service succeed, from idea to operations, drives me the most. Oscillating between strategy and development, I believe coding was always a little bit of a black box for me. I've tried to get into coding many times, starting with Swift and tested many no-code predecessors to bubble.io over the past few years. When I discovered Bubble on IndieHackers.com, it stuck immediately, allowing me to move from InVision prototyping to a functioning APLPHA, including back-end in just three months.

Why did you build your app on Bubble?

There was never enough time to build something fast enough that was of any value until I found and tried Bubble. The promises they made matched with my experience and exceeded them also. Today I feel comfortable teaching my strategists and designers alike to join me in developing and releasing ideas to test with our clients. I am confident that Bubble.io will stay with us for the long run — when you can imagine it, you can build it. That's what Bubble.io means to us.

What have been your milestones or successes so far?

We recently had our first client (NYSE and TSX listed) from the mining industry, requesting a product demo via the product site. Bubble.io made it so easy to design a frictionless product demo experience too! We also closed Q4 2020 with an invitation to the early-stage investor conference from McKinsey, representing the sustainability cohort. And last but not least, our community MVP and self-service capabilities will help us offer a more complete innovation management experience—both progressing at a reasonable rate.

What are your future plans for your app?

We have set a very ambitious roadmap to support the success of a circular economy. Without giving away too much, we are looking into implementing a simple ML algorithm for risk prediction to add immediate value to our customised workshop templates. And we aim to enable circular innovations even more for the long-term by making research, user testing, and specialists insights more accessible and transparent.
