We asked Mindly founder, Rohan Taneja, about building an app that allows users to access a curated directory of mental health resources. The main goal of the app is to enable people of all ages, budgets, and needs to access the support systems they need. Rohan has been programming since Middle School and chose Bubble because the no-code platform enables team collaboration and all the features needed to build a fully functional web app.
Tell us about your app and what it does.
Mindly is a curated directory of mental health resources that enables people of all ages, budgets, and needs to access the necessary support systems easily.
How does your app work?
The app starts by asking the user a series of questions to understand the type of resource they are looking for. Then, Mindly guides them to a list of mental health resources that meet the user-specified criteria. Mindly also displays descriptions for each resource along with a rating system where users can upvote or downvote services. Resources with low ratings are removed to ensure we only display services of the utmost quality. This entire process is done anonymously to protect our users’ privacy.
Why did you build your app on Bubble?
I’ve been programming since middle school, but what drew me to no-code tools is the fact that they allow me to easily collaborate with my team (who may not be as experienced with coding) and ship new features almost as soon as I think of them. After reading about many success stories on Bubble’s website, I knew it would fit my needs perfectly.
What have been your milestones or successes so far?
Our biggest achievement so far is acquiring 1100+ users in only a couple of months. We hope to connect even more users to mental health resources in 2021 and beyond. We have also raised $4.75k in funding from organizations like the WE Charity, which will aid us as we continue to make mental health resources accessible to all.
What are your future plans for your app?
I hope to expand the Mindly database to make it even more helpful. Additionally, my team and I will be building more features. For example, discussion forums for each resource and a companion mobile app to ensure that Mindly reaches users across platforms.
