Nabil Cacheiro-Hamdi, Co-founder, CEO and Katie-Britt Greenway, Co-founder, Chief Creative Officer, of Mulligans, created a bespoke marketplace for preowned gold clubs. Tired of trading in old clubs for pennies while shops raked in profits on new models, they created Mulligans to to save players money and keep the spirit of the sport alive. Bubble was the only no-code platform that served all of Mulligans' needs.
Tell us about your app and what it does.
Mulligans is the premier peer-to-peer marketplace for golfers. We make it easy to buy or sell new and preowned golf clubs. As golfers, my wife and I had grown frustrated with the traditional model of buying new clubs, only to be offered pennies on the dollar for those clubs by the same golf shop a few years later. We tried selling our clubs using social media but eventually grew tired of no-show buyers and handling large amounts of cash. We created Mulligans to take all the hassle out of selling. As seller you can post, and ship without leaving your house. By selling directly to other golfers, you help the Mulligans community by offering cost-saving options to buyers. It's a win-win for the golfing world.
How does your app work?
As a buyer, Mulligans, lets you search our marketplace to find the perfect clubs for you. You can quickly filter by price, brand, club type, condition, or browse our collection of featured clubs. By setting up a profile, Mulligans allows you to select preferences. Then, you can be notified when new clubs are posted that match your interests. Once you find the right club, you can buy worry-free. Mulligans protects your payment and does not release funds until the club has been delivered and accepted.
As a seller, the Mulligans mobile app lets you post clubs for sale in less than two minutes. You will be notified of comments or questions from buyers and can respond directly via the app. Once your clubs are sold, Mulligans automatically provides you with a pre-paid shipping label and allows you to schedule at-home mail pickup for free. Payments are securely handled by Mulligans and deposited directly into your bank account, so you are always safe from fraudulent activity.



Tell us a little about your background and how you discovered no-code tools like Bubble.
I work in banking, and my wife is a performance coach. We do not have technical backgrounds. When we first came up with the idea for Mulligans, I started speaking with traditional dev shops to try and understand what it would cost to build out a working MVP.
I quickly realized that a first version of the mobile app would cost tens of thousands. Further iterations to build out functionality and incorporate user feedback would cost anywhere from $100k-$200k. I chose to start learning to code when I stumbled across a tutorial on How to Build a Marketplace app like AirBnB with Bubble. I realized that if it had the functionality to replicate AirBnB, it should cover Mulligans requirements as well. I took the tutorial and haven't looked back.
Why did you build your app on Bubble?
Once I discovered the whole no-code movement, I took a step back to look at the ecosystem and find the best fit for Mulligans. We needed something that allowed us to control the front-end and the back-end. In addition, we rely heavily on API integrations to enable a straightforward experience for users all within one app (search, logistics, payments, messaging, emails, etc.). Bubble was the only no-code tool that had the capabilities to meet all of our needs. The thing I didn't realize at the time, which ended up being a lifesaver when we started building out Mulligans, was the level of support and knowledge that was available on the Bubble forum. It's a fantastic community, and they have helped us get to where we are today.
What have been your milestones or successes so far?
Since creating the Mulligans app, we have launched on the Apple app store and with Google Play. In 2020, Mulligans was featured at the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Florida, and also partnered with a youth golf development organization across the southeast, First Tee. Today, we have thousands of club listings available on the marketplace and are growing every day.
What are your future plans for your app?
We firmly believe this is just the beginning of our journey at Mulligans. As the platform grows, we will continue to innovate on new ways to provide value to the golfing community. For example, once we have sufficient data, we plan to provide users with a pricing guide, so they will be able to estimate the proper pricing of their clubs. Currently, the only pricing guide available on golf clubs was created by golf shops to benefit the stores at the expense of the golfer. We want to cut out the additional expenses and markup that comes with retail establishments. Our end goal is to make golf more approachable to everyone by providing low-priced quality clubs and establishing a highly liquid market for pre-owned clubs.
