We asked Free Rooms founder, Corina Perjan, about building an app that offers virtual single and multi-player escape rooms with an immersive experience. Corina discovered online escape rooms during the COVID lockdown and decided to build her own using Bubble. She chose Bubble because the no-code platform enables her to build a fully functional website without having to know or write code.
Tell us about your app and what it does.
Free Rooms offers online escape rooms with an immersive experience. You can put your wits to the test with a low-difficulty one-player game and a high-difficulty 2-player escape room. The multiplayer escape rooms are perfect for people who are currently at a distance from each other as these require 2 separate devices. The games are supported by most devices, however, playing them on a laptop can provide a better experience. The multiplayer escape rooms also offer in-built videochat that will allow you and your friend to enjoy the game without using any external software. You don't need to download nor install anything to start this interactive game.
How does your app work?
Each escape room has its unique story and a minimum of 5 riddles to solve. Free Rooms' games are interactive and will require your logiс and a high level of engagement to be solved.
Tell us a little about your background and how you discovered no-code tools like Bubble.
I have discovered the online escape rooms during the lockdown, which were a great date night option for my partner and I, as we were stuck in different countries back then. Unfortunately, a year ago, there wasn't a big choice of multiplayer escape rooms, so I have decided to build my own. The functionality of Bubble proved to be perfect to build it as I don't have any programming knowledge.
Why did you build your app on Bubble?
Bubble has already helped me to build a website before with complex functionality (homelypros.es), so I have decided to test its limits again. With a bit of creativity and some help from the Bubble community, I was able to build an interactive game with no programming knowledge.
What have been your milestones or successes so far?
I have published 2 interactive games and there are 2 more coming in the near future. So far, there were 100 people who have played the multiplayer game, 30% of which have successfully escaped.
What are your next steps or future plans for your app?
I will continue to push the limits of Bubble app, adding more intricate functionalities and interactivity options. Currently, I'm working on another 1-player game with a high difficulty level and planning a 3-player game in the near future.
