We asked The Lifestyle Method co-founders, Andrew Stevens (Product Manager; developer and Mackenzie Stevens (content creator), about building a meal and exercise planning app with the goals of helping reduce chronic inflammation. Andrew has a background in UX and front-end development, while Mackenzie has a backround in health and wellness. They chose Bubble because the no-code platform offered a quick way to build a fully-functional web app without having to code.
Tell us about your app and what it does.
Our app is a meal and exercise planner to help people reduce chronic inflammation. Our goal is to help people develop a healthy lifestyle, rather than just a quick-fix diet. Time is a big problem for many people, so we aim to make living healthy easy with weekly meal plans (breakfast, lunch, dinner), daily workouts, and educational articles (because knowing the why behind the action is so important)!
How does your app work?
When users come to our website, they fill out a questionnaire about their overall health concerns/goals, how much time they have to cook meals, foods they avoid, workout time and type preferences, and so forth. The app then automatically generates a "Week 1" lifestyle plan. Their dashboard includes each day's plan with breakfast, lunch, dinner, workout, and article all in one place. Users can opt to add additional weeks for $4.99. Users can favorite their favorite meals, workouts, and articles for easy access later. They also get access to additional resources which include a running blog of dessert and snack recipes as well as form and technique videos for exercises.
Tell us a little about your background and how you discovered no-code tools like Bubble.
Andrew has a background in front-end development and UX design. He has been working as a product manager for various companies for the last several years. He was introduced to Bubble by his father back in 2016 but didn't take a deep dive until last year. Mackenzie has a background in health & wellness, massage therapy, and recipe creation.
Why did you build your app on Bubble?
We built our app on bubble.io because it's faster and simpler than hard coding, but you have more control than website makers like WordPress and Wix.
