We asked Treepoints co-founders, Anthony Collias and Jacob Wedderburn-Day, about building a subscription service app that simplifies positive climate action for businesses and individuals by helping them understand and manage their carbon emissions. Both Anthony and Jacob were listed on Europe’s Forbes 30 under 30 list. They chose Bubble because the no-code platform enabled them to build a beautiful, fully functioning website with little-to-no knowledge of code and development.
Tell us about your app and what it does.
Treepoints is revolutionizing and simplifying the fight against climate change by helping everyday businesses and individuals live carbon neutral.
We're a subscription service that simplifies positive climate action for businesses and individuals through helping them understand and manage their carbon emissions. Not only does Treepoints offset your carbon footprint, but we're the world’s first platform to reward you for doing so.
How does your app work?
So here’s how it works: new users can sign up to one of the three subscription plans, priced according to your estimate of your carbon footprint; you can determine that figure by using a specially designed calculator on the website, powered by data from authorities like the World Bank and the World Wildlife Federation. Then, you’d earn reward points depending on your chosen plan, and also by referring friends and employers. If businesses sign up, and link their employee accounts, everyone under that account will earn more points.
Tell us a little about your background and how you discovered no-code tools like Bubble.
Both myself and Jacob had just been named on Europe’s Forbes 30 under 30 list, and had just raised investment, bringing Stasher's value to over $12 million, when the pandemic hit. With a lot of uncertainty of what the future would bring for Stasher. One thing that kept coming up in conversation was the climate crisis, and we knew it wouldn’t go anyway anytime soon, and that's how Treepoints was born.
We needed a platform to match the speed at which we were developing the model, and that's when we came across Bubble. It promised to be capable of providing a service that would aid this, so it really was a no-brainer.
Why did you build your app on Bubble?
We needed to build a fully functioning platform quickly and efficiently without forfeiting the design or visual element. Bubble allowed us to build a beautiful, fully functioning website with little-to-no knowledge of code and development.
What have been your milestones or successes so far?
We have had quite a few milestones so far, one would be the completion of our website. Comprising of a marketplace, account section, interactive leaderboard, functioning calculators and databases, our website really does showcase the best of bubble, a combination of both the visual aspect and programming capabilities
We've already had features in Forbes, FastCompany, Sifted, Inc., Startupsmagazine, UKTN and TechRound.
Partnered with businesses like Georganics, Allies of Skin, Brewdog, Big Yellow, Cavalier and Altid.
What are your next steps or future plans for your app?
Next for Treepoints would be to focus on rapid growth so we do all we can to help individuals and businesses achieve carbon neutrality and even climate positivity. To do this we need to grow and spread the word as fast as we can. Tangibly this looks like more customers signed up, more businesses on the platform, and working with more and larger partners.
