We asked Hussain Jalaluddin, the founder of Splitchase, about creating an app that users can share their carts and save the shipping cost. Jalaluddin has a Master of Business Administration from York University, with experience in product management and digital marketing. He chose Bubble because the powerful no-code platform offers a wide range of features, smooth integrations, and a support team that follows up promptly.
Tell us about your app and what it does.
Splitchase is a cart-sharing app that allows you to share your shopping cart, deals/discounts, and trips to the outlets by connecting you to someone with similar needs. It serves as a matching app for the transactional needs of tangible goods.
How does your app work?
The user lands on the "Create a Listing" page. Listing allows the customer to put up an offer, e.g., they are buying the two pizzas deal from Dominos in the XYZ area but only want to eat one, so anybody who wants to share can connect with the customer and divide the costs. The same offers are listed/displayed on the View Listing page, highlighting the main features of each offer similar to the example mentioned. The app allows the customer to mention specifics about the deal, such as the money limit of the share, time and place of goods exchange, preferred contact medium, etc.
Tell us a little about your background and how you discovered no-code tools like Bubble.
I have previously worked in Product Management and Digital Marketing. I came from an entrepreneurial circle and launched a social venture for students before coming to Canada for my graduate degree. The first no-code tool I came across was MIT App Inventor. I was organizing scratch classes for my scout troop, and the instructor introduced me to the MIT App inventor. I haven’t looked back since.
Why did you build your app on Bubble?
I chose Bubble for four main reasons: the ease of building, seamless integration with external APIs, vast feature range, and readily available support.
What have been your milestones or successes so far?
I was accepted into York University’s Side Hustle Program, and have continued to receive fantastic mentorship and guidance.
What are your future plans for your app?
In the short term, I intend to build a community around the product, which includes gathering feedback from early users and simultaneously incorporating it into the app. In the longer term, I aim to upscale the product in terms of customer base, and the app’s features without compromising on quality for both.
