We talked to the founder of The Experience Co., Jay Ahya, about building an invite-only app that connects creative professionals in India to discover various projects and events. Previously, Jay managed his app's invitation process through five different tools, before deciding to build a web application on Bubble. What started as needing a simple sign-up button turned into building a fully-fledged app on Bubble's extensive no-code platform.
Tell us about your app and what it does.
We host journeys, residencies, and festivals for freethinkers in India. We work primarily with artists, musicians, filmmakers, photographers, chefs, storytellers, fashion designers, and other creative leaders.
Here are the reasons why we needed an app:
1) Every project we host is invite-only. Anyone that wants to attend our projects needs to go through an application process. Till now, we were managing the application management system using Typeform, Integromat, Google Sheets, Sendgrid, and Mailchimp for design. This wasn't easy and prone to human error. Plus, even after Integromat, we still had a lot of manual work to do. We used to spend three hours per day, at least on managing this.
2) We are bootstrapped and did not want to invest in an app development agency.
3) We care about our users and want to give them a seamless UX.
How does your app work?
The app allows you to discover and sign up for road trips, festivals, residencies, and adventures in India and South East Asia.

Tell us a little about your background and how you discovered no-code tools like Bubble.
I've been using tools like Squarespace since 2012. I discovered it because I had a deadline to match in college, and I did not know how to code a website. I found Bubble through Makerpad, that was in turn suggested by my close friend Paras Malhotra - who is also now a fellow Bubble user.

Why did you build your app on Bubble?
I needed a sign-up button. That's the only reason I started building on Bubble: no one else allows you to do that. And once I built my first sign up flow, I made an entire platform because I loved it so much.
What have been your milestones or successes so far?
The most significant success would be coding an app when I am not a coder. Creating a fast and responsive application and launching a brand new project called Tribe House - a creative lab in nature for creators, rebels, and changemakers. It starts on October 1st, and the users are applying through the app. It's going smoothly!

What are your future plans for your app?
I plan to create a collaboration platform for creators in South East Asia.
