Add-ons to help you scale

Every app plan comes with AI credits and workload units, but you can add more whenever you need. Ideal for a month where you’re building a lot of new features or expecting increased app usage. No need to change plans.
FAQs

Frequently asked questions

AI CREDITS

What are AI credits, and what uses them?

Many of Bubble’s AI features use AI credits, including the AI Agent, page generation, and image generation. The exact number of credits used varies based on the size and complexity of the request.
Every plan includes a monthly allowance that refreshes on the first of the month. You can purchase additional AI credits at any time if you are on a paid plan. Currently, app generation does not require credits.

How are AI credits different from workload units?

AI credits measure AI-powered feature usage specifically, and workload units (WU) measure general server processing needed to host, run, and scale apps.
You use AI credits when you build AI-powered features, such as chatting with the AI agent. WU captures a variety of activities that Bubble apps perform, including database operations, workflows, and web interactions. You can find the full list of workload inputs in the Bubble Manual.

What are my options if I need more AI credits?

Once you use up all your AI credits, you will have to wait to use AI-powered features until you purchase additional credits or your credits refresh on the first of the month.
If you are on a paid plan, you can purchase additional AI credits. See here for more details.

If you use up all your credits on the Free plan, you will need to upgrade to Starter or wait until credits refresh on the first of the month. You can view credit breakdown by plan here.

Do AI credits roll over?

Credits included in each plan’s monthly allowance do not roll over and refresh on the first of each month. Paid credits expire six months from purchase, and do roll over until their expiration date.
WORKLOAD

What is workload?

Bubble has a usage-based pricing model, so users will only pay for the resources their app needs. Our mission is to make software development more accessible — Instead of requiring users to monitor various resources in a traditional tech stack built with code, we introduced a single metric: workload.
Workload aggregates the server resources needed to host, run, and scale apps built on Bubble. The amount of workload an app consumes is measured in workload units (WU). Learn more in the Workload section in the Bubble Manual.

How much workload will I need?

The amount of workload an app needs depends on a variety of factors. If you’re new to Bubble, the best way to assess your workload needs is to get started on a Free plan, which comes with more than enough Workload to get started. From within your free app, you will be able to see how the activities unique to your app contribute to workload usage.
Since mobile and web apps within a project share the same backend and database, all workload usage is cumulative. This means activity from both your web and mobile applications are part of your project's total workload usage.

To learn more, see our workload explainer.

Can I cap the amount of workload my app uses?

Yes, you can disable overages at any time so that your app does not use more than the amount that comes with your plan (plus any additional workload you may have purchased via a workload tier).

What are my options if I need more workload?

If you need more workload than the amount that comes with the Starter, Growth, or Team plan, you can either purchase a workload tier for additional workload, or you can pay for overages as you go. Apps on the Free plan or Agency plan cannot subscribe to workload tiers and cannot enable overages because these plans are designed for development.
BILLING

Do I need a plan for each app?

Plans are purchased at the project level. Each project can include both Mobile and Web apps, a Mobile app only, or a Web app only.

Will I get notified before I’m charged for workload overages?

Yes, you will receive an email notification when your app has reached 75% of its available workload units. You will also receive an email notification when your app has reached 100% and overages will kick in.

What are the add-ons I can purchase separate from what comes in the plans?

Workload tiers (only available on the Starter, Growth, and Team plans), additional file storage for $3 per 100 GB each month, and plugin subscriptions.
NATIVE MOBILE

What's the difference between a native mobile app vs web app?

Native mobile apps can be published to iOS and Android app stores. They’re optimized for mobile performance and offer access to mobile device features like camera, push notifications, and location services.  In Bubble, native mobile apps run on React Native.
Web apps run in browsers and can be accessed from any device with internet access, but have limited access to device capabilities compared to native apps.

When do I need a paid mobile plan?

The free plan is perfect for building your native mobile app. A paid plan is necessary for deploying a live version of your app, which is required for testing with Apple Test Flight and Google Play  and for publishing to the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

What's the advantage of a Mobile + Web plan?

A Mobile + Web plan allows your apps to share the same backend database, workflows, and API connections, eliminating duplicate development work and reducing the time spent creating separate experiences for web, iOS, and Android.
