In this Quick Tip, we’re going to learn about Type of content.
The page and container elements, like the group and repeating group, can all contain a Type of content field, which is where you manually tell Bubble what data or Type of content to display. Whenever you set a Type of content to something, you are now defining what the Data source must evaluate to.
At the repeating group level, by defining a Type of content, you gain access to different fields of that type. In this repeating group, we set the Type of content to User so that’s what we are expecting the Data source to evaluate to.
If we Do a search for that type, our repeating group is correctly set up, and because the Type of content, we now have access to these fields when we create expressions in a repeating group like so.
If we Do a search for something other than the Type of content, it breaks because that’s not what we told it to expect. As we’ve seen, Type of content dictates what the Data source must evaluate to. This also applies to evaluations in workflows, privacy rules, etc.
