This is NOT an exam for beginners. While a few questions may cover foundational concepts, we designed many to challenge expert Bubble users. Passing this exam will demonstrate that you are proficient with most facets of the Bubble platform professionally. The best way to prepare is to keep building in Bubble!

As a Bubble Developer Certification, the exam tests a nearly all-encompassing set of topics related to understanding and developing in Bubble at a professional level. Questions are randomized, and each test experience is unique, so you may not be tested on the same subject matter as others. Any given topic will likely originate from one of the following broad Bubble categories:

  • Bubble Interface

  • Layout & Styles

  • Frontend Functionality

  • Database & Security

  • Backend Functionality

  • APIs

  • Performance

This exam does not cover plugins except for Bubble’s API Connector. It also doesn’t cover templates or the Plugin Editor. You may encounter a handful of questions that go beyond Bubble to ask about tools, resources, or practices that are relevant to web development in general. However, the vast majority of questions cover anything and everything that can be found throughout the main Bubble editor.

If you’re trying to decide whether you have enough experience to pass the exam, here are a few questions that might help:

  1. Have I been building with Bubble for more than a year?

  2. Have I built pages with a complex design?

  3. Have I built and deployed an app with live users?

  4. Have I built an app with complex backend logic?

  5. Have I worked on an app with other developers as collaborators?

  6. Have I maintained an app that has more than 100 users?

If the answer to these questions is “no,” that doesn’t necessarily mean you’re unprepared to take the exam. These questions reference the kind of developer experience that we believe will solidify your understanding of the concepts the exam covers. So if you feel like any of these questions highlight a gap in your skill set, you may want to use that as a guide for where to study.
