Static data
Static data in Bubble is data that:
What is static data?
Requires your app to be re-deployed to update
Can't be changed by your app's users, unlike dynamic and temporary data
It's typically used to store structured information that doesn't change often, such as:
Translatable text strings used around the app
Lists of fixed choices, like countries, colors, and other options
App-wide information you may occasionally need to change from one place, like your brand name, legal name, or contact details
How Bubble stores static data
Bubble stores static data in three ways:
Method | What it's for |
Directly on elements and in workflows | Data you enter straight into your app, like the text on a button or the list of options in a dropdown. |
Application texts | Strings like headers, labels, and short pieces of text, with the option to offer translated versions. |
Option sets | Structured data stored in a database-like way, without using the database. |
What the three have in common
All three become part of your app's source code. This has a few consequences:
They load fast. They're downloaded when the page loads, so they don't need to be fetched from the database.
They're cached on the user's device until you deploy a new version, so they don't need to be downloaded on every page load.
They're unencrypted. None of them should ever contain sensitive information.
