Why does the Rich Text Editor automatically add a new line based on text alignment?

The Rich Text Editor handles new lines inconsistently depending on text alignment. Center, right, and justified text automatically adds a new line; left-aligned text does not.

The Rich Text Editor handles new lines inconsistently depending on the selected text alignment. When text is center, right, or justified, the editor may automatically add a new line without you pressing Enter. When text is left-aligned, no extra line is added automatically. This difference only affects formatting in the editor — it doesn't have any further implications on how the content itself functions.

What you might notice

  • When text is center, right, or justified, a new line appears automatically without pressing Enter

  • When text is left-aligned, no automatic new line is added

Workaround

  • If you'd like a new line when working with left-aligned text, manually press Enter

  • If you don't want the automatic new line when text is center, right, or justified, manually delete it
