The RFP system: FAQ

How the RFP matching system works, who gets recommended, what to do if you get too few matches, and how to manage your RFPs as a client or agency.

How does the RFP matching system work?

Only active tiered agencies are recommended in the RFP. Active agencies are those with the "accepting RFPs" toggle turned on. Here's how matches are determined:

  • Users are shown three best-fit tiered agencies, with the option to view up to five total.

  • Recommendations are randomized when agencies are equally matched.

  • Bubble always tries to include one Gold agency partner in the top 3 matches (if they meet the user's criteria).

  • Users can indicate a preference for freelancers (agencies of one developer).

  • Matching fields: languages and primary services (from your agency profile settings), project type, and budget (min fixed fee, from your RFP notification settings).

Are all agencies and freelancers recommended by the RFP system Bubble-Certified?

Yes. Only individual Bubble-Certified Developers and agencies with at least 60% Bubble-Certified Developers on their team are recommended. You can find all other agencies on the Experts directory.

Can clients send their RFP to more than 5 agencies?

We advise sending your request to the recommended agencies first. If you don't hear back or aren't satisfied with the options, you can find more agencies on the Experts directory and submit a request directly through their agency profile or website. If recommended agencies don't seem like great fits or aren't responsive, try adjusting your RFP requirements and resubmitting.

Are agency matches officially endorsed by Bubble?

Experts in the RFP system self-report the details used for matching. Bubble reviews agency profiles, but can't guarantee every detail is 100% accurate. You can see and leave reviews on agency profiles. If you encounter any issues during the RFP process, please let us know.

How do I view my saved RFPs?

Visit bubble.io/my-requests to view your saved RFPs.

Why can't I see older RFPs anymore?

With the launch of the new RFP system on February 28, 2024, we cleared unopened bids older than a few days. Any RFPs submitted before February 25, 2024 that you hadn't yet responded to are no longer visible. RFPs you had already responded to should still be visible.

I'm a freelancer — how does the RFP system benefit me?

Freelancers now have more visibility than ever. The RFP form includes a "freelancer" preference selection that surfaces your profile more often and reduces competition with larger agencies.

What should I do if I'm getting too few matches?

If you're receiving too few or no matches, try these steps:
