We asked Kinetic founders, Kris Eul and Andrew Verboncouer, about building an app that helps startups create meaningful relationships. The main goal of the app is to support startups by connecting them with first hires, advisors, and investors. Kris and Andrew decided to put their idea in motion during the pandemic. They chose Bubble because the no-code platform offers the most user-friendly interface and all of the features necessary to build a fully functional platform on a tight budget.

Tell us about your app and what it does.

Kinetic accelerates progress by helping create meaningful relationships for startups. We believe a warm introduction is exponentially more valuable than cold outreach, and concierge introductions between aligned professionals with complimentary experiences. To date, we’ve helped founders find first hires, advisors, accredited investors, and have served as an access point bridging corporate managers to ventures that serve mutual industries.

How does your app work?

When creating a profile, members are asked about their goals, and what they’re looking to learn and share with the community. We then make weekly, hand-curated introductions every Tuesday between aligned professionals to meet over video. In addition to our weekly introductions, we also have office hours that Members can host and attend, as well as Chat Requests for participating Members that are open to additional conversations.

Tell us a little about your background and how you discovered no-code tools like Bubble.

I have absolutely no technical background and back in April 2020, in the midst of a pandemic, being furloughed, and socially distancing, it seemed like the perfect time to put this idea in motion that Andrew and I have been thinking about for the past five years. With Andrew at the design wheel, we had limited time and resources in building out our MVP; Andrew had heard rumblings of no-code tools and after reviewing, put us in the best position to validate our idea while on a shoestring budget of both time and money.

Why did you build your app on Bubble?

Bubble was undoubtedly the most user-friendly platform to learn and deploy on. Andrew, through nights and weekends, was able to create and launch our MVP and  I’m at a point where I can troubleshoot small bug fixes on the fly. It gave us a fighting chance to build something with limited resources, be incredibly agile in fine-tuning our offering, and be proud to share with the world.

What have been your milestones or successes so far?

One of our favorite stories is introducing two of our Members, Michelle and Matt, to one another. After they connected a few times, Michelle offered Matt the critical first sales hire role to her growing startup (which Matt accepted), and Matt was able to connect with a sales mentor through our platform a few weeks after that. Our average conversation rating across nearly 400 introductions is 4.7+/5, so it really highlights the opportunities that can come from a well-time introduction to an aligned professional.

What are your future plans for your app?

We’re barely in the first inning! We just publicly launched and are excited to build on the momentum from our closed beta over the past nine months. While we cater to startups today, it’s just the beginning as we’re seeing organic interest in other industries that we can support as well. You also see added capabilities that will give our community the flexibility of meeting over video or at partnering venues/organization’s events to bring the conversations in-person as it becomes safe to do so.
