Instructions

Go to Settings -> General and check the box to expose the option to add id attributes to html elements.

Give an ID to the element that you want to target.

Use the set an attribute action in a workflow and target the element using the id. 
Set the attribute name and value.

Lets you add custom HTML attributes inside tags, add an ID to the element, create a workflow to target that ID and the custom attribute appears inside the HTML tag. Perfect.
