Alphabet Profile Images

Published December 2017

Plugin details

Use a gmail-style alphabet image as a user's avatar until they upload a profile picture. The plugin returns an image representing the first letter of the user's name (or indeed any text) and a great use case is to use that image when a user has not uploaded a profile picture. Credit to Elad Nava (https://github.com/eladnava/material-letter-icons) for the images.

Instructions

1. Drag the Alphabet Profile icon on to your page. 2. Specify a Target Text - this is the text from which the element will extract the first letter and return a corresponding image for. It can be the value of a database field or an input for example.
3. Use the Alphabet Image's current image as a dynamic image for an image element or as a group's background image on your page, for example, in a Conditional when the image is empty.

Notes:
a) This plugin uses a fixed set of images. The colours are therefore not customisable.

Simple & Easy!

This was super easy to implement and is such a great feature. The notes about the single color and how the images derive set a clear expectation and the documentation is super helpful too.
You can't choose colors and it just pick the 1st letter
