QUICK START 1. Install COOKIE AI. A banner appears on every page straight away, using safe defaults.
2. Open your Plugins tab > COOKIE AI and fill in any settings you want to change (all optional).
3. Add a Cookie settings link to your footer: When clicked > COOKIE AI - Open cookie settings.

SETTINGS (Plugins tab) - leave any blank to use the default
- CONSENT_MODE: leave blank unless most of your visitors are in the US. Blank or opt-in = nothing but essential cookies runs until the visitor agrees (required in the EU and UK). opt-out = tracking runs until the visitor says no (US only). auto = opt-out for visitors on a US time zone, opt-in for everyone else.
- COOKIE_POLICY_URL: link to your cookie policy, shown in the banner.
- POLICY_VERSION: change it (e.g. 1 to 2) when your cookie policy changes; everyone is asked again.
- REMEMBER_CHOICE_DAYS: how long a choice is remembered. Default 365. Safari may ask again after 7 days if a visitor does not return.
- BANNER_LAYOUT: bar (default), box or modal.
- BANNER_TITLE, BANNER_MESSAGE: your own wording.
- ACCEPT_BUTTON_TEXT, REJECT_BUTTON_TEXT, CHOOSE_BUTTON_TEXT: button labels.
- BACKGROUND_COLOUR, TEXT_COLOUR, BUTTON_COLOUR: hex colours such as #1a9fd6. Button text switches to black or white automatically for contrast.
- UK_ANALYTICS_WITHOUT_CONSENT: yes lets UK visitors have analytics on by default (Data (Use and Access) Act 2025); they can still switch it off. Leave blank if unsure.
- CONSENT_LOG_URL: optional. The address of one of your own backend workflows; each choice is sent there so you can keep a record (needs a Bubble plan with backend workflows).

HOLD BACK TRACKING SCRIPTS UNTIL CONSENT
Change each tracking script to type="text/plain" and add data-consent="analytics" (or preferences / marketing), e.g. <script type="text/plain" data-consent="analytics" src="..."></script>. Paid plans: put them in Settings > SEO / metatags > Script/meta tags in header. Free plan: header scripts are not published, so put them in an HTML element on the page or in a reusable header instead. Google tags also receive Consent Mode signals automatically.

WORKFLOW ACTIONS (no element needed)
Open cookie settings, Show banner, Accept all, Reject all, Set category, Reset consent, Set cookie, Delete cookie.

ADVANCED: COOKIE CONSENT MANAGER ELEMENT (optional)
Place it once in a reusable header or footer for live values (Consent given, Analytics allowed, Marketing allowed, Consent record), events (Consent changed, Accepted all, Rejected all, GPC honoured) and a Get cookie action. Its settings override the Plugins tab; leave any blank to use the Plugins tab value. To keep a record in your database on any plan: When Consent changed > Create a new Consent log using the element's values.
