Simplistic transformer for arbitrary local file to data URI.
Data URI is text representation of the file content and type. File name and other metadata do not have representation in this format. Some of them are provided/represented in addition for use whenever needed.
Text representation is convenient for use in case binary data usage is inconvenient for whatever reason. Some platforms/services even cannot use anything else. URI form lets data be processed on many places where regular URL may be applied, in spite not always, and so simplification of many transfers for small local data can be achieved.
Some limitation should be keep in mind when using this way. Often the services that are able to handle such form of data set limitation of the data size (for different services this may vary between 50MB to 500MB). Read applicable documentation in your case for more info regarding possible limitations server side if any. Since the file content will reside in the browser memory (in spite temporary) there are limitations by different browser that can vary significantly. For the browsers in use at present they may vary from 30MB to more than 1GB. There is no best choice, but if you are conservative and want wide support, limit the usage for files size to no more than 24MB - the best coverage for many different use cases. The files that need to be handled in such a way are usually much smaller (one mp3 is typically 5~6MB at most for instance, text notes - even much smaller).
