How Bubble and Webflow Give Dorxata a Competitive Edge

Most early-stage companies need both a marketing site and a web app. Using both Bubble and Webflow, Dorxata can build just that — faster than their clients can keep up with.

As soon as Dorxata experimented with using Bubble to build custom apps, they knew they needed to add it to their tech stack. Dorxata, one of the leading Webflow Enterprise Partner agencies, now credits some of its biggest successes to the combined power of Bubble and Webflow.

To specialize developers in Bubble, the company used Bubble’s Developer Certification; they also used the agency tiering system to provide benchmarks for their expertise. And so far, their efforts have paid off: Dorxata has seen impressive results when using the two no-code platforms in tandem — especially for early-stage companies that need both a marketing site and web app very quickly.

"We’ve been working so fast that our clients themselves can barely keep up with us."

“Specializing some of our developers in Webflow and some in Bubble allows us to work in parallel, meaning we can produce work for clients at a really astonishing rate. So far, we’ve been working so fast that our clients themselves can barely keep up with us,” Dorxata Founder Miko Garrido says.

Putting Bubble to the test

Miko and his team wanted to try out Bubble’s platform before introducing it to clients. The team hired a developer to learn Bubble and create a “test” app that allowed users to search for and apply to rent properties.

Dorxata’s developer was brand-new to Bubble, so he used Bubble’s online courses to get up to speed. “The strategy we’ve always had at Dorxata is to hire [traditional] developers and engineers and then bring them into the no-code, low-code space,” Miko says. “We hired a full-stack developer, and he picked up the tool in about two days. It was very fast.”

Turning a test run into a new business opportunity

With his new skills and access to Bubble, the developer experimented with replicating core functionalities of real estate platforms like Redfin. He was able to build a fully functioning app from scratch in just three weeks.

In fact, the trial app was so successful that Dorxata is launching it as a standalone product. Perchly allows users to search for and apply to rental properties in the Philippines. “It was really stunning, seeing it unfold so quickly,” says Miko.

Leveling up with the Bubble Developer Certification program

After Perchly, the Dorxata team wanted to keep improving their skills and start exploring how Bubble could complement their use of Webflow.‌ Miko and his team signed up for an Agency account to access all of Bubble’s features. Soon, their developers also started setting their sights on the Bubble Developer Certification.

“Bubble’s certification program provided an easy way for us to achieve and prove a certain level of competence in the tool. We now have a more external and official way to establish that we know how to use Bubble very well,” says Miko. This builds confidence on both sides: Miko knows his team has all the Bubble skills they need to do their best work, and clients know that they're working with tested experts.

Launching a responsive, user-friendly health insurance app

Convinced that Bubble plus Webflow was a promising combo, Dorxata was ready to take Bubble to their client base. One of their long-term customers, an insurance company in Mexico, wanted a tool to help clarify whether a user was qualified for coverage.

“Up to that point, the company had been doing everything quite manually,” explains Miko. ‌“They wanted an easy way, from their Webflow site, to allow users to click on a plan, pre-fill that as a URL parameter, and then go to a Bubble app that would take over the qualification process from there.”

The nuances of insurance — where there are tons of variation in plan types, employer information, and companies — meant that a static form wouldn’t cut it. Unlike other platforms, Miko says, Bubble “really shines in creating an interactive experience where the elements react to user behavior. If you need the user to have a very specific experience in between signing in and the very last output of that process, there's literally no better tool than Bubble on the market right now.” That’s because Bubble is a full-stack platform, whereas other platforms handle just the front or backend.

With Bubble, Miko and his team were able to develop the first version of the app very quickly, while simultaneously developing the Webflow site even faster than their client expected. They’re continuing to iterate on the project today.

Pairing Webflow and Bubble for a strategic advantage

Since their success with the insurance company, Miko and the Dorxata team are eager to take on new Bubble projects and mature as an agency on the platform. That means adding two more Bubble Developers to the team. “That’s over 10% of our entire workforce after only being in the Bubble agency program for just a couple of months,” says Miko.

With more Bubble Developers on their bench, Dorxata is aiming to become a Gold partner within the next 18 months and start taking on more complex deals with enterprise clients. With the Gold tier, they’ll unlock access to perks like closer collaboration with the Bubble team to help win enterprise customers.

“The vast majority of businesses are non-technical or don't have access to technical resources, which is why tools like Make and Webflow and Bubble have grown so quickly,” says Miko. Adding Bubble to its tech stack means Dorxata is positioned well to build deeper, more strategic relationships with its customers.
