Imagine being able to earn an official, state-recognized diploma through a beautifully designed online learning platform. Now imagine that same platform was built by a single developer in just three weeks. That’s exactly what the team at Cube accomplished with École Cube.
This French no-code education platform, built entirely on Bubble, isn’t just another online learning system. It’s a sophisticated digital classroom that delivers state-recognized professional credentials to budding developers across France — all while saving the company substantial costs and providing students with a learning experience that’s both engaging and effective.

From expensive off-the-shelf solution to custom Bubble platform
Thomas Groc and Arthur Kieffer founded Cube Agency in 2019, becoming early adopters and eventually Gold Partners of Bubble. As their agency business grew, they spotted an opportunity in the no-code education space and launched École Cube in 2021.

“We started with the ambition and purpose to train product builders — people who will use no-code technologies to build professional apps in companies,” Thomas says.



While École Cube teaches various no-code technologies in their curriculum, Bubble is one of the key platforms they include, offering specialized courses that help students master this powerful tool.

Initially, the team used an off-the-shelf learning management system (LMS), but quickly encountered limitations with the platform’s pricing model and feature set.

“We were paying very expensive licenses,” Thomas explains. “The business model was based on variable cost per learner, and it wasn’t compatible with our philosophy because we wanted to provide LMS content for life to our learners.”

Faced with rising costs that didn’t align with their vision, the Cube team decided to build their own custom LMS on Bubble.

Building a better learning experience with Bubble
Arthur built the initial École Cube platform in just three weeks as the sole developer on the project. The team rolled out features incrementally, starting with core functionality for courses and lessons, then gradually adding dashboards, challenges, gamification elements, and administrative tools.

“Since we have experience on Bubble, we built it feature after feature,” Arthur explains. “It’s easier when you know exactly what you want and you have all the experience and skills to build it.”



The platform now offers a complete educational experience, including:
  • A course catalog with lessons that unlock day by day
  • Interactive tutorials, videos, and learning materials
  • Quizzes and practical challenges
  • A challenge submission system integrated with Vimeo for screen recordings
  • A gamified experience system with XP rewards
  • A proctoring system for state-recognized examinations
  • Robust administrative tools for monitoring student progress

What sets École Cube apart is its integration with France’s professional certification system. “We deliver a diploma which is recognized by the state in France,” Thomas notes. “If the student passes the test, they get a recognition in the professional market. I think we have a unique organization today in France to deliver this particular diploma.”

Significant cost savings and scaling advantages
By building their LMS on Bubble instead of continuing with an off-the-shelf solution, Cube has seen substantial cost savings. “We divided that cost by maybe four or five,” Arthur says, referring to their previous monthly expenses for software licensing.

Even more importantly, Bubble’s pricing model aligns better with their business needs, allowing them to offer lifetime access to their learners without incurring ongoing costs for inactive users.

“The more we scale, the more we save with Bubble," Thomas adds. “We solved the famous ‘build versus buy’ dilemma with our own project. We stopped paying very expensive licenses while building our custom experience, which is very appreciated by our learners.”



Today, École Cube serves approximately 1,000 users, with about 100 daily active learners. The platform supports a team of roughly 20 mentors who assess student challenges and exams.

Looking ahead to continued growth
As École Cube continues to evolve, the team plans to further refine their platform and expand their educational offerings. Their model of providing lifetime access to learning resources has proven particularly effective for students looking to build careers in product development using no-code tools.

“We were quite impressed by what Arthur created in one month on Bubble," Thomas says. “It was very clean, with very custom features aligned with our philosophy and methodology of training.”

École Cube is proof that Bubble enables businesses to create sophisticated, scalable applications tailored precisely to their needs — even when those needs include delivering state-recognized professional credentials.
