We asked 2Doozi founder, Malcolm Lewis, about building an app that helps users manage your personal to-do list of TV shows, movies, books, places, and more. Malcolm has 20+ years of experience as a software marketing executive, and started as a developer at Oracle. He chose Bubble because the no-code platform offers simple features and helpful plugins to build his app.

Tell us about your app and what it does.

2Doozi is your entertainment to-do list. Use it to manage your personal to do list of TV shows, movies, books, places, and more. See what other people are doing, save the stuff that you want to do, and remember what you did.

How does your app work?

Sign up and start adding tv shows, movies, books, restaurants, places, etc. to your list of things you want to do. Follow either users to see what they're doing and get some ideas from them too.

Tell us a little about your background and how you discovered no-code tools like Bubble.

I've been a software marketing executive for 20+ years, but started life as a developer at Oracle. I've always wanted an app like this for my own use. When COVID hit and I broke my collarbone riding my road bike, I had some time on my hands. I decided to build my app using a no-code platform. I had built a version in the past with Django, but wanted to see how far I could get with a no-code platform.

Why did you build your app on Bubble?

I wanted to try no-code and stumbled across Bubble. I liked what I saw on the videos and decided to give it a shot.

What have been your milestones or successes so far?

Getting the app this far has been a pleasant surprise. I love some of the simple plugins like the Facebook Share.

What are your future plans for your app?

Minor tweaks. Would love feedback from early users. Perhaps import popular stuff (eg tv shows, new movies, etc.) to save folks having to add the urls themselves. Longer term, I have some ideas around taste-based recommendations and identifying cohorts of users with similar tastes in things, e.g. movies, and making recommendations for them based on what other users "like them" also like. Think of it like a "taste graph" rather than a "social graph". For example, instead of showing me recommendations for movies from people that like me (friends), show me recommendations from people "like me" - ie those who like the same movies I do.
