We spoke with Armadillo Rent founder, Daniel González, about creating an app that helps Mexican construction companies find and rent equipment. Daniel’s father works in construction and now rents his equipment to other companies when he is not working. Daniel came across Bubble’s visual web editor and took the chance to start building business with no code.
What problem does your company solve?
Daniel González: We connect construction companies that own heavy equipment with companies that are looking to rent it. The app allows companies to keep track of their equipment while it is being rented out. Our method, as well as the app’s design, are sensitive to the cultural needs of Mexican communities.
How does your app work?
Renters search for their equipment needs in our inventory, as they would on Amazon or another marketplace. They can see an owner’s profile before they decide to rent from them. Equipment owners, on the other hand, have access to a rental equipment management system, where they can keep track of their inventory.
Tell us a little about your background and how you discovered no-code tools like Bubble.
My brother and I founded Armadillo Rent to help our father, who is a contractor in Mexico. The construction industry is seasonal, which means that many contractors have months of nonstop work, followed by long periods of unemployment. We created Armadillo Rent so that my father could rent out his unused equipment to other companies. Initially, we didn’t know how to code or expand the company. But just as we were discussing our problem with some friends, we discovered Bubble. We started using Bubble, and the rest is history.
Why did you build your app on Bubble?
2 years ago, we didn’t have too much money or coding experience. As soon as we discovered Bubble (by accident), everything became easy: we created quite a few MVPs (minimum viable products) and more and more companies started using the app. We learned a lot from watching the Bubble video tutorials, but we did not unlock its full potential until we started experimenting with the app itself. Without Bubble, we would not have been able to launch our company.
What has been your traction or success so far?
We are a small, but quickly growing, company. Bubble has helped us raise venture capital funds 2 times now. Thanks to Bubble, we have been able to adapt to our users’ needs, even during the challenging circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic.
What are your future plans for your app?
Over the next few months, we are planning to launch a full credit service using Bubble. Users will be able to rent with credit that Armadillo Rent provides.
