We asked BoxEmApp founder, Eugene Mwika, about building a boxing news app. The app offers up-to-date boxing news, schedules, results, videos, and ratings so that fans can follow the sport of boxing. Eugene has always wanted to build a boxing app but the cost of developers and his lack of coding knowledge set him back from achieving his goal, until he came across Bubble. He chose Bubble because the no-code platform offers almost all of the customization options, features, resources, and integrations to bring his idea to life without having to write code.
Tell us about your app and what it does.
My app is a boxing news app. It offers boxing news, schedules, results, videos & ratings from the sport of boxing. BoxEmApp makes it easier for new and existing fans to follow the sport of boxing because they can access all the different aspects in the world of boxing on one app.
How does your app work?
The app is available on the app/ play store, therefore one would need to download it to use. Nonetheless, you can also access the site. It is simple and straightforward, you click on a news article to read it or schedule to see upcoming fights etc.
Tell us a little about your background and how you discovered no-code tools like Bubble.
I have always wanted to build a boxing app and I had tried very many ways and they were either too expensive or the developers I worked with weren't able to produce what I had in mind from the wireframes. One day in frustration, I was scrolling through Product-hunt when I saw Bubble. I started watching videos and before I knew it I was making apps. With that knowledge and freedom, I could now build the app myself without depending on others!
Why did you build your app on Bubble?
I am a big boxing fan and have always wanted a boxing app that shows the schedules, results, news, etc just like I had seen for other sports such as with football apps, f1, etc. I had tried working with 2 different development teams and spent a lot of money but I was always disappointed with the end product. When I discovered bubble it gave me the freedom to realize my vision for the app in a very short period of time
What have been your milestones or successes so far?
I just launched the app on both the iOS app store and the play store and I am getting good reviews so far which is motivating me to keep going. I am now working on the search console to get my platform discoverable on Google.
What are your future plans for your app?
I plan on monetizing using Google Adsense and partnerships from broadcasters, promoters, and gambling companies for fights in the near future. To increase engagement I will also add a social media section where I feature the best from Social media in the world of boxing. The aim is to have BoxEmApp the only one-stop-shop for all boxing content.
