Clement Duclos, founder of Brnstrm, tells us how his tool helps teams solve one of the hardest challenges facing fresh businesses: coming up with new ideas. Using Bubble, Clement was able to find a variety of tools and options to create the app he wanted and the one that his future clients would need.
Tell us about your app and what it does.
Brnstrm is a collaborative ideation and brainstorming tool that helps creative and product teams reach their goals by generating higher quality ideas. The platform helps teams understand the goal and user insights, think creatively and share great ideas.
Traditional group brainstorming meetings are often unproductive: they are challenging to facilitate, participants feel unprepared, pressured to generate creative ideas on the spot and group dynamics leave them feeling excluded.
Brnstrm, helps organizers prepare and participants learn about insights and brainstorm at their own pace. As remote work becomes more prevalent Brnstrm ensures meaningful outcomes through asynchronous sessions.
How does your app work?
Organizers create a brainstorm, specify a goal, upload insights (link to data, screenshots or text) then share a unique link with participants. Generated ideas flow back in for organization and prioritization.
Participants have a dedicated interface to review the goal, view insights, share ideas (upload screenshots or links) and comment on others' ideas.
If stuck, there are tools to help participants think creatively.
Tell us a little about your background and how you discovered no-code tools like Bubble.
I've been working in tech for over 10 years. I'm a product manager and designer and I have worked for some of the largest tech companies in Europe and the US.
Brnstrm started very much as an experiment, initially just a landing page in HTML/CSS to capture intent, but was inspired to explore creating a fully working prototype, that's what led me to look into no-code tools.
Why did you build your app on Bubble?
I looked at a few tools and chose Bubble after seeing examples of other web apps built on top of the platform. The design editor is powerful enough to create polished interfaces and landing pages with responsive support. Additionally, I found a significant amount of support and plugins available which gave me confidence the platform could carry my project.
What have been your milestones or successes so far?
The first step was to complete the user research and early validation of the problem then to design key aspects of the user experience.
Once I got the insight/brainstorm management ("the backoffice") piece working I knew I could easily extend the product and make a good workable MVP.
I am now getting feedback from early users and continuously bringing improvements to the product.
What are your future plans for your app?
Next step is to continue to understand the product market fit of Brnstrm by getting it in the hands of more users.
Another important next step for the product is to build tools to help people improve their creative thinking.
