We spoke with CloudStash co-founder, Fidel Velasco, and his team about creating an app that helps businesses, start-ups, and freelancers find the best software to grow their toolkit. The CloudStash has been following Bubble since 2012 and believes that no-code and low-code platforms will only become more popular in the coming years. They used one of Bubble’s templates to frame their idea so that they could focus on the app’s database structure, information architecture, and the user experience.
What problem does your project solve?
Fidel Velasco: CloudStash helps companies, start-ups and freelancers select the right software from an ever-growing list of SaaS applications so that their company or team can optimize work processes and streamline expenditures. Software aggregators like G2, Capterra, and Get App focus on quantity and have thousands of applications divided into hundreds of categories, which can make finding the right SaaS overwhelming. We aim to provide an experience that matches the quality of our competitor’s, but with less friction. Simplicity is important to us, so we want users to access the information that they need in just a few clicks.
How does your app work?
On CloudStash, users are free to immediately start exploring SaaS products that match their own job title, or the business objective that the user is trying to achieve. Users are able to sort products by ratings (we have aggregated a number of reviews across many platforms). Each SaaS has an info card that includes information such as categories, logo, name, link, score, and number of reviews, as well as product screenshots, demos, and more. We are also preparing a team function feature so that teams can collaborate and set budgets, define workflows, and compare alternatives.
Tell us a little about your background and how you discovered no-code tools like Bubble.
Our team has been following Bubble basically since the no-code platform’s inception and is a fan of the platform. At the moment, he is the Head of Innovation & Digital Delivery for PwC in Stavanger, Norway, so he normally works with delivering digital experiences to clients. No-code and low-code platforms are becoming part of the consultancy toolbox, and we believe that they will only become more popular in the years to come.
Why did you build your app on Bubble?
When it comes to testing and launching a concept in a matter of weeks, Bubble is the fastest and most cost effective platform. Bubble allows you to purchase a template, which you can customize in a matter of hours. We took this route, which enabled us to spend more time working on the database, information architecture, and the user experience. With Bubble, you are able to deploy with a button and easily integrate your apps with domains, plugins, analytics, and email. Needless to say, Bubble’s no-code features saved us tons of time.
What has been your traction or successes so far?
We are set to launch this month and are expecting that a large number of people will be interested in our value proposition. We believe that our success is directly linked to the immediate value we generate for our visitors. To that end, we will be paying close attention to how many visitors discover new software, especially those who switch to cheaper options or higher quality alternatives. Finally, we’ll be using feedback forms to gather insights from our early users.
What are your future plans for your app?
We would like to build more features that are geared towards IT workflows, IT governance, and IT budgeting, especially for small and medium-sized companies. The SaaS world is changing so quickly, and there are plenty of new applications that could add value to a business. We want to provide transparency for smaller companies and equip them with the necessary tools to track their software and established corporate workflows. A vault of tools, CloudStash provides insights on returns, investments, and state-of-the-art SaaS stacks.
