We asked Objectt founder, Omar Fagundo, about building an app that helps architects, contractors, and developers find and compare common building elements through an organized online database. Omar has a background in business, specifically building material supplies. Technology has always been one of his fascinations. He chose Bubble because the no-code platform offers all of the features necessary to build a fully functional web app without having to code.

Tell us about your app and what it does.

The Objectt app is a way to help organize building material products into an online database. The goal is to make finding and comparing common building elements like railings, windows, and doors easily searchable for professionals like architects, contractors, and developers. One very unique twist to the online database is that we’re serving up an interactive 3D model along with other vital product information. I strongly believe that real-time 3D technology is a game-changer in how people learn about building products.

Objectt also sells the Virtual Replica System™, which is an easy way for building materials companies to have their building products modeled in 3D and hosted in an engaging, interactive online product experience.

How does your app work?

The Objectt app is a double-sided platform with the main goal of helping you find relevant building material products as quickly as possible. Users  are able to either search a product using relevant keywords or browse from categorized lists of products. When a product is selected, the user is taken to the page where they can see all about the particular product, as well as have an opportunity to explore an interactive 3D product experience. This gives a user an opportunity to fully immerse themselves into the product, view it from all angles, change colors and configurations. For a manufacture interested in having their building material featured on our site, they would have to submit their product info, which they can do for free. If they want their product modeled and served as an interactive 3D experience, they simply pay a product set up, plus an annual subscription to have it hosted online in 3D for one year.

Tell us a little about your background and how you discovered no-code tools like Bubble.

My background is in business, specifically building material supplies. I launched and operated a hurricane shutters manufacturing and installation company for seven years. Later, I migrated into railings and other architectural metals for large commercial projects. Technology has always been one of my fascinations, and I’m constantly looking over the horizon to see what’s next. When I discovered Bubble's no-code platform I was lovestruck because although I understand programming languages like Python, C#, and JavaScript, coding is not one of my favorite activities. I saw Bubble as a perfect place to build a use case for whatever ideas I can come up with.

Why did you build your app on Bubble?

I was learning all about Bubble for three years before I started building Objectt's building material products database. I guess you could say I was looking for an excuse to use Bubble. The prime factor in using Bubble is that I want to maintain control over my app. Although I used outsourced talent to create the core functionality of Objectt, I am empowered to quickly go in and change elements as I see fit. Secondly, Bubble has been around for several years now, so I know and trust that my app will be maintained for years to come. The large and ever-expanding third-party integrations make it easy for me to quickly hack together solutions as we keep progressing forward. For me, right now, it is perfect.

What have been your milestones or successes so far?

A major milestone for Objectt's building material products database was making the 3D interactive experience is actually work and perform well. We knew in theory it should work, but of course, like so many things when you’re developing innovative solutions, we had to overcome challenges. Fortunately, we did it and now our next milestone will be launching at a small scale locally here in Florida.

What are your future plans for your app?

I see Objectt's building material database as a go-to information hub for the Architecture/Engineering/Construction (AEC) industry. We plan on selling the Virtual Replica System to building material companies interested in joining the 3D tech revolution that has already taken the AEC industry by storm. Along with 3D models, we’re looking deeply at how Bubble can help us serve up Virtual Reality (VR) experiences in the future.
