We talked to the team behind Parent Teacher Network, a social network platform supporting parents in the same region to find education support during the COVID-19 pandemic. Elise Moore is the founder of Parent Teacher Network, and Sergey Shpa and Pargev Kocharyan were the Bubble builders who helped her create the app. With Parent Teacher Network, parents can find families who have similar interests to team up and form learning pods or co-ops for their kids. Bubble was the most cost-effective solution for the founder, who did not have any coding experience and wanted a powerful no-code tool.
Tell us about your app and what it does.
Kocharyan: Parent Teacher Network is a social networking tool that allows parents to find other families in their area to create pod schools, learning co-ops, and provide childcare support during the pandemic.
How does your app work?
A parent creates a profile for their family. Once logged in, they are able to see other users in their area. Users are able to filter search results based on family details, primary language, schools, and schooling interests. Users can message each other in the app, share contact info and make plans, etc.
Tell us a little about your background and how you discovered no-code tools like Bubble.
Moore: I am a musician and an audio engineer and have zero experience building web apps. As a creative, I’m constantly having ideas for sites and apps that I think would be useful and, until now, have been unable to find a way to create them cost-effectively.
Why did you build your app on Bubble?
Moore: After getting quotes from a couple of web design firms for PTN, I started looking for a no-code platform, and a friend told me about Bubble. I didn’t know if it would be possible to build what we wanted in the short amount of time we had, but it was in-expensive enough that it seemed worth the gamble. We found some fantastic Bubble builders and started working together.
What have been your milestones or successes so far?
We were able to build and launch the site for desktop and mobile in a little over a month. Two weeks from launch, we have users across the U.S. who are using the site as intended.
What are your future plans for your app?
As the schooling situation unfolds in the United States, we feel the app will continue to be useful for families. We plan to provide additional resources to support users. When the pandemic ends, we have plans to transition the site for another purpose.
