We asked Patter co-founder and CEO, Aaron Gopp, and his team a few questions about building an app that helps companies measure and assess their brand performance. Aaron has worked in software development for 15 years and has encountered many development tools. He believes that iterating based on customer feedback is a crucial part of the development process, and using Bubble has allowed his team to create new features in a matter of hours or days, rather than weeks or months.
What problem does your project solve?
Aaron Gopp: Brand is a critical component of a company’s success. But it turns out that most companies are unable to measure and assess brand performance. Patter is a software application that allows companies to measure, monitor, and manage the effectiveness and value of their brand.
How does your app work?
Users begin with by providing a walkthrough of their company. After we collect some basic brand information like social handles and logo, users are encouraged to provide deeper brand insights such as mission, vision, and the company’s origin story. With the brand profile complete, companies can begin to reference or share their brand guide. We believe that everyone working for a company should understand its brand, so users are encouraged to invite teammates to join the platform and collaborate on the brand building experience.

Tell us a little about your background and how you discovered no-code tools like Bubble.
I have 15 years of experience in software development. Having worked as a designer and product manager, I’ve been exposed to many, if not most, development tools, including the newest generation of no-code platforms. I am a huge fan of receiving constant customer feedback and iterating accordingly, so the ability to test features quickly is something that is important to me and that Bubble provides.
Why did you build your app on Bubble?
We are an early stage company, so our #1 goal is to iterate and ensure that we are delivering value to our users. We initially launched on a React framework with a contracted software engineer developing the UI. After about 3 months of development, we realized that our development cycles were too slow and too expensive. We began looking for alternative programming tools that would allow us to deliver and test features quickly. With Bubble, we are able to turn around full features (not just mockups) in hours or days, as opposed to weeks or months. Using Bubble enables us to maintain our current AWS hosted database by leveraging our APIs. This has given us incredible flexibility on the frontend and business logic while maintaining our existing backend and database.
What has been your traction or successes so far?
Since launching in March, we’ve onboarded over 50 companies and have pushed over two dozen releases to production. Feedback from our users has been incredibly valuable, and our updates and enhancements directly reflect their needs.
What are your future plans for your app?
For the first part of this year, our goal was to launch basic features and assess feedback from early users. This has informed our extensive roadmap, which will include advanced features such as: custom surveys, data collection, brand performance reporting, and team communication & collaboration tools.
