We asked Recruiting Tool founder, James McGarry, about building an app that provides recruiters with an easy-to-use tool to help track, filter, and sort through complex data on candidates. Recruiting tool enables recruiters to focus on what matters most, candidates experiences. James is a UX leader by trade and has worked with Dell, Facebook, NBCU, and Kohl's in leading complex design systems and developing products and processes. He chose Bubble because the no-code platform enables him to validate and quickly iterate on the complex workflows and data structures needed without spending a lot of time and money.

Tell us about your app and what it does.

I started Recruiting Tool as a way to bridge the gap between the workflow and tools that recruiters use and the needs of reaching out to candidates and hiring managers. I hear a lot of people talking about being "ghosted" by a recruiter and wanted to learn why that happens. I found that recruiters don't have tools built for them, often working from many spreadsheets and jumping across tools for notes, tracking candidates, emails and scheduling. On top of managing and messaging hiring managers to keep the complex system of recruiting going.

How does your app work?

Recruiting Tool takes a new way to approach the problem. Learning from what recruiters are doing and what needs to be done, and bringing it all together into a centralized application. Recruiting Tool utilizes common drag-and-drop features, note tracking and filter and sort to arrange and navigate complex data in simple and intuitive formats. Allowing recruiters to focus on what matters most, candidate experiences.

Recruiting Tool brings together recruiting skills and tools through an easy to understand user interface.

Tell us a little about your background and how you discovered no-code tools like Bubble.

I am a UX leader by trade, working in places like Dell, Facebook, NBCU, Kohl's leading complex design systems and development of products and processes. I have a background in "Some-Code", I can get a prototype up and running, but to prove this idea I needed to use live data, and it needed to be secure.

Why did you build your app on Bubble?

I chose to use Bubble as a platform to validate and quickly iterate on the concept and the complex workflows and data structures needed. As a first time founder I wanted to prove the concept and get some folks to pay for the product, while spending as little time and money possible. The ability to quickly integrate tools like payment portals, Google Calendars and drag-and-drop interfaces made using the tool simple, while providing a realistic experiences for users to validate my proof of concept.

What have been your milestones or successes so far?

Thankfully this proved successful, and my tool has paid subscribers (milestone one: get someone to pay for the tool)!! I have learned a ton and know what is needed to go to market with a full blown product. It would have taken me months to secure development support and funding to take a POC to market in 30 days. I was literally up and running with a functional demo that users could try for initial testing in a week, by the 30 day mark I had paying customers and enough support from potential customers to define a clear roadmap to launch a full product!

What are your future plans for your app?

This is only the beginning for Recruiting Tool! I intend to continue to build the tool and we are targeting a full launch January 1st 2021. I am now building a team and we will continue to use tools like Bubble to iterate quickly, learn fast, and build amazing tooling for recruiters. Our next frontier is automation, and the utilization of machine learning. I am on a mission to superpower Recruiting Tool, and recruiters around the globe! Through simple, easy to use, fast applications.
