As we build our application and start to think about displaying data to our users, we will encounter the “Do a search for…” expression. This expression can be used in many places across our application, so it is important to understand this expression and how to correctly formulate our searches.
It is important to remember that “Do a search for…” always yields a list of results.

1. Create a repeating group to display users

The most frequent use of the “Do a search for…” expression is as a data source for repeating groups. To explore this, we’ll create a repeating group on our application’s page. We’ll set the type of content to “User”, as we’ll want to display all users in our application. Then we can click into the “Data source” field, and select the “Do a search for” operation. In the search palette’s dropdown, we’ll see all data types for our application; here, we’ll select “User”.

2. Select information to display

To display information about the data that is now loaded into our repeating group, we’ll want to create a text element in the first cell of our repeating group. We’ll select “Current cell’s User’s email” from our dynamic value dropdowns to display the emails for each of the users in our application.

3. Preview application to view data

When we preview our application, we can see our repeating group, with our users’ email addresses displayed in each cell.
