Bolt's interface is more user-friendly for beginners and offers more guidance than Cursor. Built by StackBlitz, Bolt runs entirely in your browser using WebContainers — meaning there’s no local environment to configure. You start by prompting Bolt AI with your app idea, and it immediately starts spinning up v1. You'll see Bolt's AI agent working on the left and the code on the right. Once the code finishes generating, you can choose a visual preview option, which makes it easier to see and test your app's output.

Design systems

  • In Bolt and Cursor, you can set up documentation for the AI to draw from, but setting up design systems within the app itself relies on traditional code.
