We asked DocumentCertifier founder, Joe Morgan, about building an app that provides document certification and notarization services. Joe is a qualified Solicitor with an academic background in law. Tell us about your app and what it does.
When people apply for a job, move home, go to university or make many other life changing decisions, they will often be asked to provide documents that are Certified / Notarised as a "True Copy of the Original". To confirm that the copied documents are genuine and have not been edited or altered, they must be Certified by a qualified Solicitor. Certification is therefore an essential part of any application process and, if not done correctly, it can delay life changing decisions.
Typically, it takes considerable effort and time to find a Solicitor to review and Certify documents. However, at DocumentCertifier our team of expert Solicitors are available 24/7 and can provide a Certified Copy of any document within 30 minutes. Using our fast and reliable online service, you can obtain a signed and dated Certified Copy without having to leave home and without risking your original documents.
How does your app work?
Our quick and confidential service can Certify / Notarise any Document as a "True Copy of the Original" in 4 simple steps: 1. Provide a few basic details, 2. Upload an image of the Document, 3. Upload an image of you or your ID, 4. Get a Certified / Notarised Copy in 30 minutes. In practical terms, users can either upload the required document and ID or use their camera to take a quick picture. These images are sent through to our team of Solicitors, who are then able to verify and approve the order within 30 minutes. Completed orders are sent to users by email.
Registered users can also download copies of their invoices and Certified Copies from the Account section of the website. The Deliver section of the website lets users get a paper version of the Certified Copy sent to any UK address within 2 business days. The Verify section of the website lets anyone check that a Certified Copy that they have received is valid.
Tell us a little about your background and how you discovered no-code tools like Bubble.
I am a qualified Solicitor and my academic background is in law. I have obtained LLB, LLM and MA degrees. I am also naturally very creative and I like to create things. However, I had no previous experience in web / app design or coding. I had previously been asked by several friends and family to Certify copies of various documents for them. I realised that there was a demand for this service, but that there were no online solutions. Law is an industry that remains very old-fashioned and which is prime for disruption. I realised that I could help bring legal services in the 21st century through creating the app.
Why did you build your app on Bubble?
I have always been interested in coding, but I had no practical experience and it seemed daunting and intimidating to learn. However, a friend of mine introduced me to Bubble as a way to 'code' an app/website without having to understand programming languages. I found Bubble extremely easy and intuitive to use. I was excited to learn all about the features that Bubble had to offer. I was also impressed by the strong community surrounding Bubble. The Bubble forum has been particularly useful.
What have been your milestones or successes so far?
The use of DocumentCertifier has increased exponentially in the 2 months that it has been active. I was initially unsure whether people would actually want to use DocumentCertifier. However, orders have conitnued to grow day-on-day. We are extremely happy that so many people have made use of DoucmentCertifier so far and we are excited to see what the future brings.
What are your future plans for your app?
DocumentCertifier is can be used on all devices via www.documentcertifier.com. However, we will soon be launching on the Google PlayStore and on the Apple Store. This will make DocumentCertifier even more accessible to all.
