Bubble App of the Day: Atlancer

We asked Atlancer's co-founders, Aaliya Kanuga and Armand Poonawala, about building an app that connects freelancers with businesses. Atlancer is a space where freelancers can flourish, while businesses can receive quality-checked work. Armand Poonawala studied Computer Science at NYU. They chose Bubble because the no-code platform enabled them to build a fully functioning web app with minimal complications.

Tell us about your app and what it does.

Atlancer is an online platform that connects freelancers to businesses, and takes full responsibility for the quality of the work done through it. We aim to create a space where freelancers can flourish, and businesses can also be assured that the work they will receive is quality-checked and managed. We also have an online academy that gives freelancers an opportunity to upskill or learn something new.

A selection of top-rated packages available on Atlancer.

How does your app work?

Businesses can search for a service they are looking for in the digital marketing, design or production space and immediately see freelancers that are available for projects. They can then go through the freelancer's profiles to view work samples, price packages, reviews and learn more about the freelancer. If they are interested in taking the service forward, they can set up a free consultation call with the freelancer to discuss the project or they can choose to pay for the service directly. Freelancers can use the platform to set up their own profiles, add in their work samples to build a portfolio, add in price packages, toggle their availability and more. Freelancers can also be issued credits that they can use to spend to collaborate with other freelancers on the platform, therefore creating a creative ecosystem for freelancers to work in.

Tell us a little about your background and how you discovered no-code tools like Bubble.

Our founder, Armand Poonawala studied Computer Science at NYU. Although he really enjoys coding, he thought Bubble was a really efficient tool that made our job a lot easier.

Why did you build your app on Bubble?

We wanted to build the product in a way that minimised complications and would be easy to maintain over time, and Bubble seems to be the perfect tool to achieve that. It has allowed us to achieve a really high level of responsiveness while still being easy to use on the back-end. It was honestly a no-brainer for the development team.

What have been your milestones or successes so far?

We started working on development two months ago. We’re excited to announce that we have launched our open beta. We learned so much that we immediately started building the much larger beta product we have today. We’ve been getting a great response from those we’ve talked to so far, and are excited to tackle the next phase of our mission. Our little overview on milestones and successes may be defined as:
1- Designing the platform on Figma and uploading it on zeplin.io
2- Building the Homepage, Packages, Creations and Academy page.
3- Creating the personalization engine.
4- Setting up the different profiles roles for the Clients, Atlancers, QCs and Admin.
5- Giving them the eligibility to upload content in the form of packages and creations.
6- Connecting with RazorPay.
7- Finishing all pages.
8- Beta testing.
9- Launching the application.
10- Getting our first users.

What are your next steps or future plans for your app?

We're hoping for Atlancer to change the way people view work, and give them an opportunity to take control of their careers by managing all of their freelance projects using the platform. It would also enable them the flexibility to work remotely, and therefore we hope to eventually have a community that travels the world and experiences different cultures while working remotely and being fully in control of their careers. We hope to also show businesses that the platform gives them access to really high-end, talented individuals while also making sure that there is an additional human element behind every job that is responsible for making sure it runs smoothly. We see that Atlancer has the potential to decentralize the agency model that people have grown so accustomed to over the years, and finally pave the way for something new and exciting.
