We asked Read Something Great founder, Louis Pereira, about building an app that helps people discover timeless articles on the internet. Louis has enjoyed building various apps on the internet for the last decade. After trying various no-code platforms, he chose Bubble because it allows him to prioritize his ideas over the capabilities of the tool.

Tell us about your app and what it does.

Read Something Great helps people discover timeless articles on the internet. In a world that is constantly drowning us in the junk food equivalent of content, this app seeks to help people take a step back. Slow down. Read stuff that's made to last.

How does your app work?

Read Something Great is intentionally built to be simple. It serves up links to five timeless articles across different categories. If a reader finds a link interesting, they can click on it and read it. If they don't find anything that interests them, they can smash a button, and they will be served with five new reads. That's it.

Tell us a little about your background and how you discovered no-code tools like Bubble.

I've loved building stuff on the internet for the better part of the last decade. I discovered Bubble during a fellowship I did with On Deck, and I've been using it ever since.

Why did you build your app on Bubble?

I've explored the no code ecosystem since 2013, and Bubble is the first no code tool that let's me prioritize my ideas over the capabilities of the tool I am using. I'm excited for the future - both, for Bubble, and for the things I'll build with it.

What have been your milestones or successes so far?

The response to Read Something Great has been overwhelming. I built it over 3 days as a fun side project. It's been 3 weeks since, and I'm currently averaging over a daily users.

What are your next steps or future plans for your app?

I'm not sure where I'll take this, but I know it's still early days. I've been talking to users, and I know there's a definite hunger for apps that help people consume content in a more healthy manner. I'll keep building features as long as they align with that goal.
