Andrew Gurney and Anthony Thai, co-founders of ScanTracked, tell us how they used Bubble to create an app that gave its users freedom and the ability to scan barcodes and create forms for any number of purposes, like stocktaking, order picking, and auditing. With Bubble, Gurney and Thai could scale their business as users came in. Previously, they hadn't found success with other no-code platforms until they discovered Bubble's no code web app builder.
Tell us about your app and what it does.
The ScanTracked platform is a SaaS solution for data capture and lookup. Users can use the web interface to design the mobile form, picking and choosing which fields they need to capture, upload any lookup data and deploy the form to a mobile device within minutes. Some common applications amongst our customers include stocktaking forms, delivery sign on glass forms, auditing and order picking. A number of our customers use the solution to 'lookup' data, for example to scan a product in their shop and have the mobile form return the price, or scan a person's ID at a restaurant to determine if they are in a VIP program or not.
How does your app work?
Upon signing up, the user can jump straight into creating their first form. Upon creating a new project they begin adding 'fields' to then form such as text fields, numerical fields, dropdown boxes, checkboxes or a signature capture field. The next key step is uploading any data for the form to reference. For example if they wish to scan a barcode and return data against that barcode, then they simply upload a CSV of this reference data.
Tell us a little about your background and how you discovered no-code tools like Bubble.
Our backgrounds are from the corporate world, more specifically logistics. Neither of us as co-founders have significant tech experience. We had already developed some apps and solutions using more basic no-code platforms such as Kodular, although they were limited as they were generally only mobile apps and didn't have the ability to do much in the backend or web based platform. So we researched the options out there and tested a few.
Why did you build your app on Bubble?
We found Bubble to be the most suitable as it had rich features around data management, which was critical to our platform. It also allowed us to release the platform quickly and cost effectively to begin gaining feedback. Another great feature which we loved about Bubble was the ability to scale our app. As we sign up more users we can move up the plans ensuring our users are not slowed down when capturing or looking up data.
What have been your milestones or successes so far?
We only officially released the platform mid year, although we have seen user growth double in the first few months, month on month.
What are your future plans for your app?
Our future plans are mostly around adding the number of fields a user can add to their project to give them more flexibility in the type of form/app they want to create. We are continuously receiving feedback from our customers around the data they need to capture or lookup and this is driving our enhancements.
