Bubble App of the Day: SubSocket

We asked SubSocket founder, Thimo Waanders about building an app that enables users to set up PayPal payments in minutes through an easy-to-use dashboard.  Thimo loves to design web applications but does not have a coding background. He chose Bubble because the no-code platform was the most advanced application builder to develop applications without code.

Tell us about your app and what it does.

SubSocket offers an easy-to-use dashboard to implement PayPal recurring and one-time payments without a single line of code.  SubSocket users can set up PayPal payments in minutes making it possible to focus on the development of their project instead of spending weeks spitting through the PayPal documentation.

How does your app work?

When users have created an account for SubSocket, they will be presented with the option to create their first application. To create an application, they will specify the application name and input their PayPal API credentials. The PayPal API credentials will be encrypted and never shown again. Once the application is created, the user will have access to our carefully designed dashboard. A user can not only create PayPal products and plans directly inside the dashboard, but SubSocket makes actually implementing PayPal payments super easy.

To implement PayPal subscriptions, users can convert their PayPal plans into SubSocket Checkouts which allows the user to collect subscription payments with only a URL! Besides a URL, users also embed an official PayPal button onto your website to accept subscriptions. All subscriptions will show up inside the dashboard and can be changed/cancelled using the customer portal.

To implement one-time payments, users can create a SubSocket Single Payment and collect transactions via only a URL! Just like with SubSocket Checkout, users can also embed an official PayPal button onto your page to accept payments.

SubSocket also offers a Zapier integration, full or partial refunds, coping of sandbox products to live, advanced search and much more!

Tell us a little about your background and how you discovered no-code tools like Bubble.

For years I loved to design web applications, but had trouble adding advanced functionality because of my (at that time) limited coding ability. I discovered Bubble by accident and was very skeptical at first because I had experience with other no code builders leaving me disappointed. When I finally started building on Bubble, a world opened up for me. I loved being able to add advanced functionality to my designs. At this time, I have been using Bubble for over 3 years and I cannot imagine life without it.

Why did you build your app on Bubble?

Bubble is currently by far the most advanced application builder to develop applications without code. Integrations such as the API connector and the plugin editor make the possibilities almost endless. In addition to the great features that Bubble offers, there is also a very active and accessible community where you can always go for help and feedback. The support from Bubble for questions, feedback or bug reports is also outstanding.

What have been your milestones or successes so far?

The feedback from the no-code community has been amazing so-far and SubSocket has now helped around 100 users to implement PayPal payments into their app! SubSocket has multiple paying users at this time users which allows me to spend a lot of time on making SubSocket even better!

What are your next steps or future plans for your app?

Our mission with SubSocket is to make implementing PayPal payments as easy as possible and we will always find ways to improve our services. We are never done developing SubSocket and hopefully we can support a lot more businesses implementing PayPal payments in the future!
