Before he became a startup founder, Will Ericksson worked in healthcare and received his MBA. While thinking about how to build out his startup product, another founder recommended that he check out Bubble's no-code platform. Wanting to learn more, Will took one of Bubble's No-code Bootcamps, and now, he's a full-time entrepreneur and Bootcamps instructor himself. We asked Will to share more about how learning Bubble from Bootcamps changed his life.

Tell us more about yourself.

I’m from Sydney, Australia in the beachside suburb of Cronulla. When I’m not building apps, I spend time with my wife and four kids, and I love to play and listen to music. I grew up playing trumpet in many different bands from a brass band through to an orchestra, but nowadays I enjoy listening to jazz and contemporary music, and I love to play piano, guitar and sing.

What was your life before no-code like?

I studied software design & development in the last 2 years of high school, and I loved it. After high school, I wanted to make a difference in the world - as many young people do - and I studied nursing at university. I worked in Healthcare as a Registered Nurse in Emergency and other roles. I studied for an MBA. Eventually, I ended up working in Healthcare Data Analytics where I combined my health work experience with my passion for software development and innovation.

How did you discover Bubble?

Last year, I was at the Founder Institute Sydney when another founder in the cohort asked me: “have you heard of Bubble?” I said no, did some quick Googling, and was equally impressed and skeptical.

Trying to figure out if it was a good fit for us, I took a Bootcamp with Mariel Vargas, and haven’t looked back.

Since that point, I’ve left Healthcare and started two companies. Firstly, The Momentum Group Australia helps other founders and business owners build technology platforms on Bubble. Secondly, our own startup Realify.app, a tech platform that aims to solve many of the inefficiencies and inequalities in the process of buying and selling real estate.

Here are examples of some of the other apps I’ve built in Bubble for clients:

- An online learning management system for teacher professional development
- A clinic booking system
- A freelancer marketplace
- A platform to host psychological rehabilitation programs

Why did you choose to build with Bubble?

So many reasons. As a Founder, Bubble offers me faster development time, lower cost, and no need to have multiple full-stack developers on our team to maintain a basic web application. As a Developer, Bubble has offered me a much shorter learning curve compared to becoming a web developer. As a Product Leader, Bubble offers me a cost effective way to deploy a product that can scale and serve our business needs well into the future.

What do you enjoy most about teaching Bootcamps?

Teaching Bootcamps is really rewarding. I love meeting people, seeing what they are working on, and helping them overcome the little things that sometimes pop up and block progress.

If you had one piece of advice to entrepreneurs, what would it be?

There are always opportunities everywhere and now more so than ever. However in some seasons in life it can feel frustrating and like there is no way forward to realize the dreams that you have. I’ve been there many times. Right now, Bubble is a niche skill that is in huge demand and will provide you with more opportunities than you can imagine. Whether you want to build your own product or company, or if you are looking for a new career, learning Bubble will open doors for you.
