But in 2017, Flexiple was still a nascent idea among college friends trying to bootstrap their business. “We spent all the money we had,” Karthik recalls. “We didn’t understand the market at all.” They started out by figuratively duct-taping Google Sheets, Zapier, and Airtable together and combining them with hours of manual labor to help technical job-seekers find employment.
By 2018, Karthik found himself spending a lot of time fixing problems. “It was becoming quite painful. When you’re connecting different applications, a lot of friction gets generated, and a lot of bugs come out as a consequence.” So when a teammate suggested exploring Bubble, Karthik was initially hesitant about adding yet another tool into the mix — but soon he realized just how different Bubble was. “Instead of me tying together four different tools and trying to understand how they can work together, I was able to do all of that within one single tool: Bubble itself.”
