How Damiano Starr Is Shaking Up the Food Industry With ThinkCater

Producing 5,000 meals a day while coordinating drivers, managing inventory, and preventing food waste is no small feat. For Damiano Starr at ThinkCater, managing these manual processes was creating bottlenecks. Not only did this inefficiency make business scaling difficult, but forgotten items or miscalculations could result in losses.

When Damiano discovered Bubble, he saw an opportunity to build exactly what his business needed. The results improved not just his operations, but his clients’ businesses too.

From bottleneck to Bubble

Now, Damiano’s looking to help other food and catering businesses improve their workflows and processes, leading to increased profit margins and making food businesses more healthy and sustainable.

“Everything is a manual process, so there’s a lot of handwritten prep sheets, shopping lists, things that all take a lot of physical labor and manpower,” says Damiano. Building a web app with Bubble allowed him to streamline these workflows and improve accuracy across his operations.

Chef Paul Kasseem at Gourmet Catering Bay Area calls ThinkCater’s app “life-changing.” The platform automates everything from production calculations to delivery coordination, saving him three hours daily while cutting food waste by 10%.

“Now with the push of a button, I can send every department what they need to do without having to write anything,” Chef Paul says. “Time-wise, it saves tons of money. Food waste is cut by at least 10% because it automates the amount of food exactly what they have to do, so there’s no waste. Margin of error is really zero.”

Going mobile and beyond

But Damiano didn’t stop at web apps. Using Bubble's native mobile capabilities, he also built a companion mobile app that tracks drivers in real-time and sends delivery updates to clients. And because the mobile app shares a database with the web app, it didn’t take long to launch it.

He’s so confident his Bubble-built platform can transform any food operation that he’s willing to personally guarantee results for anyone he recommends to use Bubble. “That’s how much I believe in Bubble."
